THAILAND ESCAPE

With things uncertain and lots of time indoors, we decided to head to Phuket, Thailand for a little sunshine and fresh air.  We planned to go for about 8 days and then head back to China to get back into a routine for a March 2 start date for school.

We've never seen the ferry, trains, and airport so empty.  The kids were excited about the pool and beach, and I was excited to not worry about forcing a mask on the Elea and catching the Coronavirus.

We enjoyed the week together and then made a game-time decision to head back to the States to ride out the virus.  More on that later...

CORONA VIRUS STAYCATION

The kids and I had plans to have a staycation over CNY since Jess needed to head to the States for some work. We had big plans...go to the zoo, check out the local rainforest, go to a dinosaur museum, go to the movies, and more. They quickly changed with the Corona Virus.

As news came and new restrictions were put in place we saw our friends hightail it out of Shenzhen and we adapted.  We spent lots of time at home creating, baking, and playing with limited trips outside.  The government did an incredible job of trying to contain the virus, they made it mandatory to wear protective masks when you went outside.  Obviously, they don't know my daughter.

We made the most of it, frequenting the local restaurants that were still open, going on a hike with Tae's teacher, and just having fun together.  However, the cabin fever was real for this mama and the kiddos.  Thankfully Jess came home early and we started creating our new normal routine of online school and living.

We decided it was best for our family if we headed to Thailand for a little to get some fresh air and sunshine. We honestly felt safe in Shenzhen, we just needed a little break from the indoors and precautions.  It isn't lost on us that we are fortunate enough to have the choice to leave and the financial means to leave.  God has been teaching me a lot during these uncertain times, but one thing He has shown is that He shows up. From the my friends checking on me and encouraging me, to my sisters listening to me go back and forth daily, to Lulu at Buttery for delicious meals and conversation, to the Magic box that allowed for us to watch Frozen 2 on repeat, and to the most amazing supportive husband who knew I needed him when I didn't want to ask him to leave his trip early.
