11 MONTHS, WHERE DID MY BABY GO?

11 Months
February 19, 2015

Height: 77 centimeters (30.3 inches)
Weight: 9.17 kilos (19 pounds 14 ounces)

Likes:
  • Crawling
  • Drinking out of a cup
  • Coasters
  • Crawling while holding cups or cars
  • Playing "telephone" (we say hello and he holds whatever he has in his hand up to his ear
  • Balls, throwing them in particular
  • Music...it may be the cutest thing ever when he starts bobbing his head and shoulders
  • Being chased and surprised. Our apartment is a big loop so he starts crawling one way with me chasing him and then I turn and run the other way and surprise him. He laughs so hard every time.
  • Tickling daddy
  • Playing with all the buttons on the plane
  • Printsagram cards...he gives them kisses
  • Figured out his activity table--he is becoming better at playing by himself, rather than needing us to play with him
  • Dislikes:
  • Not getting his way (I'm sensing a pattern)
  • Being changed with no toy to play with

Milestones:
  • Figured out how to hold his own sippy cup
  • Walking across things (from table to shelf, etc)
  • Walks with the activity walker
  • He got his two upper teeth in and is getting two more on top and bottom (it is so hard to get a picture)

Sleep
  • His sleep is much better, the couple of weeks of sleep training seemed to have helped.  He now naps about 1-1.5 hours in the morning and then 1.5-2 hours in the afternoon.  If he naps well he goes down around 8:00 PM.
  • I still love having him fall asleep on me, when we were at the bird park he fell asleep on me and I just soaked it all in. My little baby is growing up and he won't be sleeping on me much longer.

Eating:
  • Loves to eat
  • Tries to feed himself, he gets more on the chair, floor, and himself than in his mouth
  • Still nurses two times a day (morning and night)
  • Loves to watch TV while eating
  • Double fists bread
  • Steals croissants

Favorite Moments:
  • Riding in a helicopter--he was cool as ice, maybe I can learn a lesson on fear from him.
  • The bird park and watching him "talk" to the birds and "catch" a butterfly
  • Playdates and watching him interact with other kids

Failed passport attempt.
Jess and Tae were playing and Tae landed a little too hard between Jess' legs...
He thought it was super funny.
Like really funny...

Mommy's Thoughts:
This month, like the previous ones have been so fun. I keep having to pinch myself that he is ours (well on loan from the Lord, but ours for now). I look at him and don't see a baby anymore. This month I have started to reflect on our journey. I am so thankful for how far God has brought us, more in particular me. I remember being a mess when we came home from the hospital, I didn't love being a mom, in fact I didn't really like it.  Everyone kept saying, hold on it will get better...man were they right.  Nowadays those times are a distant memory, but a constant reminder to cherish each stage. He is growing so fast, I don't want to forget anything or miss and special moments with him.

It's amazing how much Jess and I have grown both personally and together since having Tae. We laugh thinking what did we do with our time before. I'm so proud of Jess for consistently getting up and working on his book and then helping me with Tae. He is such an amazing father, doing all the little things that need to be done. I'm grateful beyond words for him, God knew what he was doing (surprise!) when he gave me him as a husband.

Lord thank you for our little family. Thank you for the opportunity to travel with Tae and expose him to the different people of this world, as well as your beautiful creation.Thank you for normal development and growth, it truly is a miracle and one we do not take forgranted. I pray you help us to raise him up in your love and grace.

IGUAZU FALLS PART 3: THE BIRD PARK

Our last touristy stop was the bird park. These are always sad to me because the birds are caged up and it reminds me of the movie Rio, but man was it incredible to see the birds up close and personal. Their colors are brilliant and each little detail is so unique. It was so hot and Tae was a trooper, even though it was his nap time.  He eventually fell asleep on me, of course in the loudest part of the park with the parrots. I quickly walked him out of that part and sat on a bench and just thanked the Lord for all the amazing opportunities we have to see this big beautiful world.
Sleeping with what looks like broken legs
Poor little guy chewing on the railing.

I love the flamingos, so quirky looking

Amazing, actually we saw one of these in nature right outside the window of our hotel
Taking in their beauty

Their beaks look handpainted

Reminded me of the part in Harry Potter when he talks to the snake in the cage
Just chillin

IGUAZU FALLS PART 2: FROM ABOVE

All of our friends that have gone to Iguazu highly suggested the helicopter ride, I'm so glad we did it because it was amazing to see the falls from above. My dad would be proud of us for being brave and going up in a one of his old machines. I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared at all, especially when we banked pretty hard for a turn. Jess thought it was hilarious and Tae was so chill the whole time.

Wonderous

A view of our hikes from above, all our treks made a lot more sense after the ride.

Rainbow!

We survived!
Selfie time!

PLAY PARTY

Before Carnaval we had our friends with tiny humans over for a playdate/ party. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely be doing it again.  The kids had fun playing and the adults had fun talking/eating/drinking, now if only I can do a better job of actually taking pictures next time.
