My birthday was so special, just perfect. I didn't want anything big just time with my people--my family and close friends who have become family. My morning started with my sweet kiddos jumping on my bed with a "Happy Birthday!" At school, Jess surprised me with some beautiful flowers and a painting done by Tae. I felt so loved with the thoughtful cards my friends gave me. I am definitely blessed.
The night before my big day we went to a delicious dinner with some friends. I am grateful for my tribe and how they feed my soul.
Friday I had a doctor's appointment, so Jess and I capitalized on being in Hong Kong with a weekend stay. It was the first time we have ever left the kids with Amei, I was a nervous wreck but they did great.
In Hong Kong we did anything we couldn't do with the kids...which was basically all the things. On Friday and Saturday morning we walked the narrow and steep hills in Central, ate slowly at restaurants, took naps, had no schedule, shopped, and just enjoyed the alone time.
Saturday afternoon we headed to Stanley to hang out with our dear friend Kristi. I always love spending time with her, she has an aura about her that makes me feel at home and connected wherever we are. Jess cooked an incredible meal of lamb, pork, steak, creamed spinach, and roasted potatoes! Kristi pulled through with a divine chocolate and peanut butter cake. We hung out on her rooftop and watched the sunset.
Here's to 36! I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for me this year.
Another chance to dress up and be a kid has passed. Tae asked to be Rafiki about a month ago and stuck with it each time I asked him. So I searched high and low and found one. Elea was meant to be his Simba, but the costume was too big so she settled for a pumpkin.
This year I was out of town for work during the family Halloween get together, but Jess was great and took some pictures (in addition to getting the kids ready and making sure they didn't eat all the candy).
Thankfully I was able to be at school with Tae. It was such a fun day, our PSA is truly incredible. The Early Primary spent the morning moving from station to station filled with fun learning activities. It was capped off with a parade where everyone showed off their costumes and little tears.
